The Ocean, hailing from Germany, just released their third and latest single, “Pleistocene” and as usual, the band never disappoints. Their new album “Phanerozoic II: Mesozoic | Cenozoic” releases next Friday (September 25th) and if it turns out even half as good as “Phanerozoic I: Palaeozoic” from 2018, we’re in for a treat. I love how “Pleistocene” starts with a catchy, electronic hook and then quickly shifts into the bludgeoning and dynamic songwriting that we’ve come to expect from the band. Perhaps the most surprising moment on the album is at the five minute mark when the song evolves into a pure chaos with blast-beats and hellish vocals from Loïc Rossetti.
The album can be pre-ordered from the fine folks at Metal Blade or on the band’s Bandcamp page.
